Contractions, Place Value, and Plants

We had a great week back from Christmas!  We learned about contractions and did "contraction surgery."  We even got to use cool surgeon gloves and put our words together with a band-aid.  We also practiced the "sh" sound and learned that "ph" makes the "f" sound in words.  In math, we have been working hard on place value; understanding that 2-digit numbers are made from tens and ones.  We have also been working with the 120 chart and doing activities to help us write and count to 120.  In science, we learned about a plant's life cycle and the things a plant needs to stay alive.  Our favorite activity was dissecting a real seed and looking inside to find the tiny root and leaves.  We also did a cool snowman art project during our art time this week for our bulletin board.  Enjoy the pictures!
