Bats!

This week we had fun learning about bats!  We read some informational books and practiced listening for facts and then we wrote some of our own facts!  We also sorted words that rhymed with or did not rhyme with bat, played some bat math games, made our own bat caves, and learned all about the -at word family.  We even got to use magnifying glasses to hunt for -at words!

We have been working hard on listening for words that rhyme.  We made a funny rhyming flip-flap book.  The kids used their creativity and imagination!

We also met Mr. Munch - who is helping us practice our letters and sounds some more!  The kids love him!

In math, we have been learning more about subtraction.  We read "Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons" and practiced writing some subtraction stories with Pete.  We also used some real buttons to help us practice modeling subtraction and then we wrote equations!  Enjoy the pictures!

Nursery Rhymes, Great Artist, and Leaf Art!

We had a quick week, but had a great time with our activities!  We are working on rhyming at school and had some fun with Nursery Rhymes.  We made our own silly Humpty Dumpty poems and also wrote what we would do to put Humpty back together again.  We had our big Nursery Rhyme day and the kids did a great job!  We had our first Great Artist lessons taught by two of our awesome parents.  This time around, we studied Renoir and made a recreation of a piece of his art.  I will save all of their art projects for their end-of-year portfolios!  We also had a fun time using our fall leaves that we collected to make an animal.  They turned out great!  Enjoy the pictures!  :)
