MLK Jr., The Mitten, and More!

Monday was Martin Luther King Jr. Day, so we had the day off.  On Tuesday, we read a book about the holiday, watched a short video about MLK Jr. and then talked about our dreams for our world.  The kids really got thinking about ways they would like to see the world become a better place!

This week, we focused on learning the TH sound.  We made a THinking THumb and hunted for words around the room.

We read the story "The Mitten" this week.  We had a good time talking about the characters, the sequence of the story, and also comparing it to other similar books.

We also did some activities with the mitten!

Here are a few things we did in math:

And some other fun winter activities!

CH, Community Helpers, and More Winter

Last week, we learned all about the CH sound.  We made ourselves into a train and CHoo-CHooed around the room until we found a surprise!  It was CHocolate pudding!  We got to finger paint in the pudding and practiced writing the CH sound and words that started with CH.  We also got our own pudding cup to eat while we wrote other words that started with CH.

We had a wonderful time learning all about community helpers!  We enjoyed all of the wonderful aunts, moms, and dads who came into talk to us about their jobs.  We learned about a veterinarian, a dental assistant, a firefighter, and a doctor!

We had a great time dressing up too!

We did some fun centers and activities to help us learn more about community helpers.
