Apples

We had a great time learning with apples this week!  We read Dr. Seuss' "Ten Apples Up on Top" and glued ten apples on top of our heads and practiced writing the numbers 1-10.  We taste tested red, yellow, and green apples and then voted on our favorite color.  We also wrote about our favorite color of apple.  We worked on informational writing and made a web about apples.  We also made our own web and used "magic rubber bands" to help us stretch our words out.  We made apples with play-doh as we practiced counting quantities 1-10.  Plus we did lots of other fun and educational activities to help us continue to practice writing, reading, math, and our alphabet!  Enjoy the pictures!

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

This week, we had a fun time with the book, "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom."  We focused on the letters in the alphabet and the letters in our name.  We went on an alphabet hunt and collected the letters around the school.  When we got back to our classroom, we had a surprise waiting for us!  It was a snack to make our own Chicka Chicka Boom Boom trees!  We watched the song/video of the story while we ate our snack.  We also made our own tree with paper and put our name on it with stickers.  And we also made our own class book about the alphabet falling out of the tree and getting hurt.  We even got to use real band-aids on our pages!

In math this week, we focused on learning the four basic shapes: circles, squares, triangles, and rectangles.  We talked about things in real life that are each shape, we hunted for shapes, and practiced drawing the shapes.  We also got to eat something every day for each shape!  We had a fun time making shapes out of playdough and sorting shapes.
