We read books about the zoo, animals, and field trips to some of our classroom animals.
The kids wrote sentences using zoo animal stickers.
We read the story, "Never Ever Shout In the Zoo" and wrote our own version to the story. Each person wrote a reason for not shouting in the zoo. We took all of our pages and turned it into a class book!
We practiced counting teen numbers and writing equations that matched by counting elephants that were inside and outside their cage.
The kids enjoyed working together to illustrate a class big book. We used the text from our poem about the zoo! Here is the finished product:
We did an art project on Friday, since we still can't use the computer lab. The kids drew their favorite zoo animal and then used yarn to make it look like it was in a cage. It was tricky, but they all followed directions and they turned out great!
They are up on our bulletin board, so check them out when you are here for testing! :)
During center time, we listened to a story about going to the zoo on the bus.
The kids enjoyed hunting around the room for zoo animals. Some of the letters in the animals' names were missing and the kids had to fill them in.
The kids thoroughly enjoyed math time this week! We made binoculars and went on an animal safari!
We had to look around the room for zoo animals and mark them on a graph. Then we counted and totaled our data.
Finally, Thursday arrived and it was time to go to the zoo! We had such a great time together. The weather was beautiful and we had lots of awesome parents who came with us and helped.
On the bus and ready to go! Brecken's grandma was our bus driver, so it was extra fun!
Thank you to everyone for making it a success!

Alex was our star student and shared his special Toy Story blanket with us!Happy 6th birthday to Niki and Michael! They are the last ones in our class to have a birthday this school year! Thanks for the treats!
Ivory's mom came in and taught our last art lesson! The kids make a lighthouse with chalks. It was a messy, but fun project.
We learned about bike safety from a police officer and his sidekick during the bike rodeo!
We also had a couple of friends take pictures of their grass-head men! Hopefully everyone has had a fun time watching its hair grow...and maybe even giving it a haircut! :)
