This week we had a "jolly good time" being pirates in our class. It helped us learn the "ar" sound and we had so much fun! We went on an "ar" word treasure hunt and made our own pirate treasure maps. We also made pirate hooks and wrote a pirate story with "ar" words. We learned the "or" sound as well and made up a story about a horse. We had lots of other fun at centers this week practicing all of our skills. In social studies, we learned what a symbol is. We discussed symbols of our school, Herriman, and Utah. We learned how to draw some symbols of Utah, made a picture about the Beehive State, and also wrote why we love living in Utah. Enjoy the pictures!

St. Patrick's Day and Compound Words
This week was a great week for us since we had the St. Patrick's Day holiday! We had many fun activities throughout the week to help us celebrate, including our awesome class party on Friday! We also studied compound words all week long and had a lot of fun doing writing activities with them. In math, we are working on sorting and comparing data. We sorted buttons, people, and bugs this week. We also did another Great Artist project and made Van Gogh's Starry Night. Enjoy the pictures!
