On Monday, we learned about the bald eagle and made one using our own hand prints for wings!
Tuesday, we learned more about the Liberty Bell and thought it was cool there was a huge crack in it.
Wednesday, we learned about the Statue of Liberty. We talked about how she is holding a torch and a tablet. I had a good laugh when a few kids said, "I have a tablet too!" ;) We did a directed drawing of the Statue of Liberty and they turned out so great!
After drawing, we painted the Statue of Liberty green.
We cut them out and glued them on a black paper to make them look nice. They will be in their end of year portfolios!
Thursday we talked about our flag and then made our own flags using fingerprints for stars.
We learned why there are 13 stripes and 50 stars.
On Friday, we read a book about the white house and then drew pictures of the white house. We wrote a sentence about what we would like to do if we lived in the white house.
We had fun reviewing all of the American symbols by hunting for them around the room and recording them on a paper.

Other things we did this week included practicing making 2-digit numbers. We all had a good time practicing taking away numbers from 10 by knocking out teeth and writing the equation!
We read "Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs" and then wrote about what we would like to have fall out of the sky instead of rain.
We worked on writing addition equations that equaled 10 using bunny and chick ten frames.
We "picked" carrots and found the scrambled sight word on them.
We hunted around the room for spring words and practiced our nicest handwriting.
We matched lowercase and capital letters written on plastic eggs.
We rolled 2 dice, added the numbers, and decorated eggs with that number.
And we found sight words in our own version of the book, "There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Chick."

On Monday, we attended an assembly that helped us learn more about trees and bugs here in Utah.Madison was our star student and enjoyed sharing her special blanket with us.
And we helped Alex celebrate his 6th birthday!

On Friday, we had vehicle day, (and pajama day)! There were several fun vehicles parked outside and we were able to go look at them up close and learn more about what they do. I took a ton of pictures, so enjoy! :)
