We made leprechauns and then wrote about when we feel lucky.
We learned the -ot word family and searched for -ot words with our magnifying glasses.
We read a story about a lucky day and then made our own lucky day books. The kids had a really fun time thinking about what they would do, see, play, etc. on their own lucky day.
We also wrote about someone who was worth more to us than gold and why they were special to us.
We reviewed syllables this week, since a lot of us still needed some more practice with this concept.
As a class, we wrote sentences about things that were green. We practiced capitals, spaces, and periods!

Hunting for words around the room from the book, "There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Clover"
Writing what we would find at the end of the rainbow
Putting random numbers in order from least to greatest
Playing a sight word game with friends
Sorting words by word family
Writing about lion and lamb weather
Hunting for tiny words on a leprechaun with a magnifying glass
Building short vowel words with a leprechaun's help
Listening to a St. Patrick's Day story

We did lots of fun things in math this week. We finished up learning and reviewing the names of 3D shapes.
We used some fun gold coins Olivia provided for math too! We used them to add numbers in pots of gold.
We also used the gold for a roll, add, and cover game!
We practiced adding 10 to numbers and writing the teen numbers.
And we wrote our own addition story problems!

In social studies, we learned more about the state of Utah and its symbols.
We worked together to read an informational book and then recorded the things we learned on our large chart.
Each student had their own small version to record information on too!
We hunted around the room for Utah landmarks, symbols, and places to visit.
And then we wrote about why we like living in Utah.

We studied this painting called "Senecio" (Old Man) by Paul Klee.
Then they colored in the spaces different colors.
Next, they got to do a wash and paint over everything orange.
It was messy, but a lot of fun!

John was our star student and the class enjoyed seeing his bone that he found!
